Bio
I’m Carl Yuan Liu: a product leader, builder, educator, astrologer, creative artist, life adventurer, and media creator.
I grew up in Beijing and have spent two decades in the United States. I studied computer science at Cornell, graduating in 2010, and later studied at Stanford, including the d.school.
I spent fifteen years building planet-scale data products in Silicon Valley and Seattle. At Oracle Data Cloud I solved a billion-dollar identity resolution problem in adtech. I was a product lead on Pokémon GO, a director of product management in data tech, and the founder of my own startup.
I studied astrology at Kepler College and founded Seattle Club Awakenings, a Seattle community for astrology, outdoor painting, hiking, and trips.
Today I live in Kirkland, Washington. I host Fuck it. I create., workshops on creativity, taste, and finding your own direction. I teach modern astrology and design thinking, build products like Nobie’s Garden, WC26 Champion, and Tangseng, host the Xuander 源玄德 podcast, and review products on Nonsense Product with Carl.
